What is Microdermabrasion?

If you’re seeking brighter, healthier skin that taps its own natural ability to repair itself, you should consider microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion gently removes epidermal cells to treat a vast range of skin imperfections. It is especially effective for skin aging. The powerful peeling action triggers the skin’s repair mechanism to produce healthy epidermal tissue growth, improving skin tone and elasticity.

Benefits

Microdermabrasion has proven benefits for those with fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, congested or asphyxiated skin, dull or dehydrated skin, or superficial scarring. It has the ability to increase cell turnover, eliminate dead skin cells, and increase the absorption of active ingredients. Ultimately, it leaves you with brighter, smoother skin.

Ideal Candidate

Almost anyone is an ideal candidate for microdermabrasion. The one exception is those who have active acne or extremely sensitive skin.

What to Expect

While microdermabrasion can have a mild, abrasive feeling, most people find it to be an overall relaxing experience. We include a hydrating, soothing mini skin treatment with all microdermabrasion treatments. And bonus! There is no down time after treatment. Skin feels immediately refreshed.

Prior to your microdermabrasion treatment, you should:

  • avoid prolonged sun exposure for 2 weeks
  • avoid retinol and very active skin products for 5-7 days.
  • Refrain from facial waxing 5-7 days before treatment.

Following your microdermabrasion appointment, you should:

  • apply SPF 30+ every 2 hours when exposed to the sun

How does microdermabrasion work?

Diamond tips create a gentle abrasive that sloughs off dead skin. Suction then removes them from the surface of the skin. Diamond tips are less irritating than the traditional crystals and are also hypoallergenic.

Is it painful?

The treatment is performed with little discomfort. At the most, sensitive patients might experience a slight sensation resembling a light sunburn. After treatment, the skin will have a pink glow, and you can resume your normal activities almost immediately. The procedure can be done on a lunch hour.

Which skin problems can be treated?

Which skin problems can be treated?

This system gradually abrades the epidermal cells to treat a vast array of skin problems:

  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Uneven and granular skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Blackheads and comedones
  • Superficial scars
Is it safe?

Microdermabrasion offers a gentler alternative to more traumatic resurfacing treatments. The treatment is executed slowly and progressively, removing only the superficial layers of the epidermis to reveal a youthful complexion and glow. Your therapist has total control and works under the strictest hygiene standards.

How long does it take?

Each treatment takes approximately 45 mins.

How many treatments will I need?

Age and skin condition determine the number of treatments required to achieve optimum results. For most skin disorders a minimum of 6 treatments is recommended. Results can be seen in both texture and appearance of the skin after just one session. An initial series of treatments, combined with maintenance sessions, will result in better skin quality. The exact number of treatments required will be determined during your consultation.

Can microdermabrasion be used anywhere on the body?

There are virtually no areas of the body that would not benefit from this procedure.
